About

Joe Cousins provides a campus ministry to students at the University of Maine in Orono. He works with Campus Crusade for Christ, communicating that God is passionate in His desires to see people in a right relationship with Himself. In order to accomplish this goal, Joe must be a student of the culture as well as of the truth. His purpose is "to glorify God by helping to fulfill the Great Commission in this generation in the power of the Holy Spirit by winning, building and sending college students."

Joe's mission focus is Lifelines, a division of the Campus Crusade ministry found only at the University of Maine in Orono. Lifelines are a series of adventure activities for students, designed in such a way that they will hear the gospel of Christ. It uses outdoor activities as a means to build relationships with students with the intention of sharing the gospel with them. Joe also works on teamwork and other relational issues during the time he spends with the students. He tries to help young people grow spiritually, emotionally, physically and mentally.

Joe attended the University of Maine as a student where he received a degree in Wildlife Ecology; he always had a passion for the outdoors. In college Joe worked as a whitewater rafting and rock-climbing guide; he joined the Campus Crusade staff in September of 2001 to work with Lifelines. Joe feels blessed that God graciously provided him with a ministry that combined his two greatest passions in life, evangelism and the outdoors. The Bible Baptist Church Senior High Youth Group were eager participants in one of Joe's outdoor adventures when he took them rock-climbing during the 2002 Missions Conference.
