Bigg Riggs 2011 CSA will start the beginning of June or before depending on how the spring is and continue through the end of October. At least 22 weeks or more. In the past main season, we had our share holders at the farmers market pick out their own items (this is quite different from other CSAs), which worked out quite well. We will include over 16 types of vegetables, strawberries, peaches, over 20 types of apples,and of course, our diverse selection of jarred products. We will also have apple cider. Pick-ups will be available on Saturday at the Old Town Alexandria Farmers Market ,Tuesday at Maple Avenue Market in Vienna, and on Sunday at the Cascades Farmers Market.

The idea for Bigg Riggs was born in the sandy deserts of Iraq in 2003, on my first deployment with the United States Marine Corps. While talking with my fellow comrades about my life in Hampshire County, West Virginia we began discussing the farm my family has owned for five generations. Being that their lives were much different from mine, they became very interested in the life I live and encouraged me to share this homestyle feeling with the world. After discussing the fact that we were only able to offer the fruit seasonally to hometown buyers, the other marines suggested caputuring that same taste in a jar.

As for my family's farm...it has been owned and operated for five generations.
