Boy Scouts Troop 391

About Us :
Troop 391 is a Boy Scouts of America affiliation sponsored by Methodist Men at the Garner United Methodist Church. Troop 391 is a member of the  Hemlock District and Occoneechee Council. We are  located in Garner, NC on Highway 70.

History :
The Troop has a rich history and many traditions which gives it a special place in Scouting in the Garner area.

The Troop actually predates the current charter and the old Dan Beard  District. The Rev. Eli B. Craven began the troop as a means of giving  his two sons a youth program at the church in the early 40's. Paul Merit changed the sponsorship from the church to the Garner United Methodist Men in 1956. Even with the break in the charter from the church to the Methodist Men the troop is still the oldest Troop in the Hemlock District.

Currently Troop 391 has the most Eagle Scouts in the district with a grand total of 69. Our latest Eagle Scout received his Eagle in 2003. Troop 391 is affiliated with the Methodist Men at Garner United Methodist Church. The Troop has been blessed with a good support base from the Garner United Methodist Church and it's congregation.
