WING HOUSE MUSEUM

Built in 1875 by the Chandler family of Coldwater for their son, Jay Chandler, and his soon-to-be bride, Frances Campbell.  The house was constructed in the 2nd Empire style with a mansard roof.  The lower level was elevated above ground to provide kitchen and summer dinning space.

Frances (Campbell) Chandler sold the house to Lucius Wing in 1882 so that she could return to her native New York State.  The Wing family retained the property for the next 3 generations before Adeline (Wing) Kershaw sold the property and the Chandler/Wing possessions to the Branch County Historical Society in 1974.

The WING HOUSE MUSEUM has been operated as a county museum since 1974 with its early opening to the public for the 200-year centennial in 1976.  The society provides public tours every 3rd Saturday of the year from April through November, plus private tours on request.  The museum also hosts luncheons and dinner events for families, groups and clubs.
