Brandon Artists' Guild

7 Center Street
802-247-4956

The Guild is a vibrant, diverse group of more than 50 artists in various media, formed in 1999 under the leadership of renowned folk artist Warren Kimble with the purpose of promoting the arts in the area surrounding Brandon Vermont. The organization sprang to life when an unused storefront became available and was turned into a rudimentary gallery. The original 12 artists called themselves and their gallery space The Brandon Artists Guild but the organization really blossomed in 2003 with the advent of “The Really Really Pig Show.

A town as small as Brandon had never undertaken an arts project so large but the enthusiasm of the Guild members was contagious and soon the entire community was involved. Forty fiberglass pigs were brought to town and decorated by Guild artists, talented town members and students from our eight area schools. Unveiled and paraded on the Memorial Day weekend, the pigs soon could be seen on display throughout the village and were auctioned on an October weekend. The event attracted thousands of visitors and, as the first event of its kind in the state of Vermont, established Brandon as one of the most exciting places to experience art and artists in the state of Vermont – if not the entire Northeast. With the funds generated from this spectacular event, the Brandon Artists Guild was able to purchase and renovate their gallery space all the while adding to its membership up to its present status as an essential stop for anyone visiting Vermont’s galleries.
