Brighton Volunteer Fire Department

3100 East Avenue

By autumn, 1925, a group of civic minded citizens concluded that formation of a fire district to serve the community could not be delayed further without consequences. Reasons for this were twofold: Pride and economics. For many years the Town of Brighton had been relying on the Rochester Fire Department to answer calls within its territory.

The Brighton Fire Department, Inc. founded in 1925, serves the eastern two-thirds of the Town of Brighton and the northwestern portion of the Town of Pittsford.

The Brighton Fire Department is currently staffed by more than 85 volunteers belonging to 3 companies or stations. The Brighton Fire District also employs career firefighters, 4 career Lieutenants, a District Director, four public safety dispatchers, a PC Specialist/ Communications Supervisor to maintain and provide 24-hour staffing.
