Carbondale Lions Club
History :
The Carbondale Lions Club was founded on July 15,1921 with 52 charter members. At this moment there are 68 members. Civic projects came early. In 1925 the club spearheaded the establishment of the first Mosquito Abatement District in the State. In the 1930's the club funded and installed street signs in the city and continued the project until the late 50's. Since the 1930's the club has provided eye glasses for needy children and has collected over 40,000 pair to date and traditionally has raised money for the Hadley School and for leader dogs for the blind.
