Cashmere United Methodist Church

213 South Division Street
509-782-3811

Purposes:

We worship with dignity and joy. We enjoy fellowship together in small groups and potlucks. We study and grow in discipleship. We minister or serve our congregation and our community. We share our faith with others.

The Board of Vision and Ministry is responsible for setting the policies and goals of our congregation. The Board also oversees building and legal issues as well as ministry issues. The Board recruits chairpersons for various tasks when short term projects need to be done. The Board meets on the first Tuesday of every month. All members of our congregation are welcome and encouraged to attend our Board meetings.

About Us:

Our church was started in 1905 about the same time Cashmere was incorporated. The first building was wood. Our current building was dedicated in 1929. We celebrated our centennial in March of 2005.

When this church started it was a Methodist Episcopal Church. In 1968, as a result of a merger with the Evangelical United Bretheren, we are now part of the United Methodist Church.

We honor the traditions of John Wesley who initiated a revival in England in the mid 1700's. The United Methodist Church is now a global church with members on every continent.

We support an Orphan at the Jamaa Letu Orphanage in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This orphanage houses only girls. Many of these girls have seen their families killed in the civil war there. They are also touched by the AIDS epidemic. They are provided food, shelter, clothes and school. Most kids have no opportunity for schooling in this area.
