Mission:

Our Church was formed as The Foreign amd Domestic Missionary Society of the Protestant Episcopal Church in the United States of America. We are a mission church! And today our mission embraces the Millennium Development Goals.

Every day more than 60,000 people worldwide die needlessly, because food and basic health care is not available to them. Of those, 30,000 are children. That's one child dying needlessly every three seconds.

Our humanity tells us it shouldn't be this way. The Gospel of Jesus convinces us that we are the ones who need to make sure it isn't this way any longer.

In September, 2000, the nations of the world pledged support to the Millennium Development Goals, a mutually agreed upon structure to join together and practically address the eight biggest threats to humanity in the world today.

The Episcopal Church has adopted these "MDG's" as a framework for our missionary activity in both foreign and domestic arenas. And Christ Church, Dayton, is committed to these as the heart of our work in the city and in the larger world beyond.

The Millennium Development Goals are:

Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger
Achieve universal primary education
Promote gender equality and empower women
Reduce child mortality
Improve maternal health
Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases
Ensure environmental stability, and
Promote a global partnership for development
We support these goals locally, nationally, and globally through our prayers, our missionary efforts, and our resources.

Our Vision

Christ Church is and shall be a community of God with a proud history and tradition of gathering in the heart of the city to worship, living in the questions of faith, and ministering to ourselves and others in the spirit of reconciliation.
