Church of the Blue Ridge

9357 Critzer Shop Road

Church of the Blue Ridge was organized in 1976 as an interdenominational church. God led a group of us to establish this new work. We were united in vision and completely committed to the following foundational principles:

-The first: A complete commitment to the absolute authority of God's Word. (The Bible, God's living word, is true and relevant for today...it is the perfect guidebook for our lives.)

-The second: The belief that the Holy Spirit indwells and empowers every believer for the work of ministry.
It is the responsibility of the pastors, evangelists, and teachers to equip the saints for the work of ministry.
Christ established His church as an organic body with Himself as the head and all the parts of the body functioning and working together.

Rev. Tom Musselman was our founding pastor. We first met in a school building in Crozet. After two years we moved to Charlottesville and met there for two years. We then felt God calling us back to the Afton area.

For a number of years we met in a house, and then in 1995 we built our current Worship Center.
In 1996 we opened a Daycare in the original house and in 1999 we expanded the Worship Center and opened Afton Christian School. These ministries are the focus of Church of the Blue Ridge as we seek to meet the needs of families in the surrounding area.
In all places we met together over those years, and now again in Afton we have had a beautiful view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. That is why we named ourselves: CHURCH OF THE BLUE RIDGE
