Our Story
The Citrus Wind Symphony is the Inland Empire's premier wind band and one of the leading all-volunteer symphonic wind Symphonies in Southern California. Comprised of woodwind, brass and percussion players, the band performs an eclectic blend of musical styles ranging from Bach to Beethoven and beyond. CWS's roots combine traditional British brass band styles with homegrown American town bands and the ever-changing ideas of a 21st century wind ensemble. The Citrus Wind Symphony is also the founding group of the Moreno Valley Community Bands’ musical family.

The Moreno Valley Community Band was established in 1987 by founding members Caesar Ricci, Dr. Rudy Sun, and the late James K. Griffin. That summer, the City Council of Moreno Valley recognized the importance of a local town band to its community and granted MVCB the status of Official Band. Since then, the Citrus Wind Symphony has entertained thousands of people, in many types of events, both at home and throughout the Southland.

Today MVCB is called ‘home’ to nearly 130 musicians and continues to grow year after year. The MVCB organization now features three performing ensembles; the Citrus Swing Orchestra, the Moreno Valley Premiere – a summer youth marching band, and the Citrus Wind Symphony.
