City Of Bullard

114 S Phillips Street
903-894-7223

Bullard lies in East Texas midway between Tyler (Rose Capitol) and Jacksonville (Tomato Capitol). Our population sign reflects the 2000 census at 1150, however, we are probably twice that now. This primarily because of some sub-divisions which have been annexed and new homes built. Formerly known as Etna, we have traditionally been a bedroom community; and, because of our geographical location many people live here and commute to Tyler, Jacksonville, or even Texas Department of Corrections in Rusk (28 miles) or Tennessee Colony (less than an hour away). We are also in the midst of some of the finest medical centers in the State. People who reside in Bullard are minutes away from East Texas Medical Center, Trinity Mother Frances Hospital, as well as being less than one hour away from the University of Texas Health Center at Owentown. We have one of the finest Independent School districts in the state, encompassing approximately 150 acres. We have a new high school which sits on 100 acres; plenty of room to grow. Our schools attract from a very large area. Our Post Office has six rural routes. Our City is also home to the prestigious Brook Hill School (a private school). Tyler Junior College, one of the top junior colleges in the nation is 20 minutes away as well as the University of Texas at Tyler. Bullard has 7 churches, a major grocery store, 3 restaurants, a city park, 4 major golf courses. Lake Palestine (135 mile shoreline), agriculture, cattle, and the finest neighbors one could want. We are in the process of erecting world class library on almost 2 acres with accommodations for seniors as well as pre-schoolers. Bullard has the only Municipal Court of Record for any city its size in Texas. Judge Danny Ray chairs the court with Judge Albert Lee as Assistant Judge. This court is serviced by four sworn police officers and Gary Lewis, Chief of Police.
