The history of Dover began in May 1854 during a great surge of migration from the East. Many came to Minnesota and to the Dover area seeking rich farm and timber lands. They were for the most part young, strong, daring and determined to find a new life on a new frontier . Dover was organized in May of 1859 and in December 1908 was incorporated by State Law.
