City of Gainesville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs (PRCA) Department is one of the 119 agencies in the country accredited by the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA). PRCA manages over 3, 200 acres of parkland with numerous cultural, recreational, and natural areas and facilities that help sustain the city economically, socially, and environmentally helping to make Gainesville a great place to live, work and visit.

We offer several internships and volunteer opportunities that range from administration, athletics, environmental, hospitality, marketing and more. There are many benefits to volunteering in PRCA to further develop your professional experience such as learning administrative and managerial duties involved in parks, recreation and cultural affairs.  Interns/Volunteers will also learn skills in project management, event planning, development, budgeting and volunteer/ employee management.  There is also the chance to gain knowledge of facility operations, including employee management, facility management and customer service.
