City Of Heflin's Parks And Recreation Department

1228 Coleman Street
256-463-5434

In 1993, the City of Heflin's Parks & Recreation Department (PARD) was created to enhance the quality of life for its citizens. Recognized as one of the best small city departments by the Alabama Recreation and Parks Association, Heflin PARD is actively providing a full range of programs for the young and old alike.

In July of 2002, the City of Heflin opened the doors to a new Recreation Center which offers a base for all of the activities PARD offers including rooms for rent for Birthday Parties, Family or Class Reunions, Bridal/Baby or House Warming Showers, Wedding’s and Wedding Receptions, Dances, Singings, Shows, Revivals, Rallies, and many other personal or public events not to mention Sports Games and Tournaments. The Recreation Center also features an indoor Walking Track, free of charge to those 14 years & older.

Along with Tammy Perry as the Director, Heflin PARD has three additional full-time employees; Tommy Austin - Facility Director, Jon Swafford - Athletic Director and Melissa Yancy - Administrative Assistant and two part-time employees; Charlotte Rider - Recreation Leader and Michele Mayfield - Administrative Assistant. In the summer, and during our active sports seasons, part-time workers are hired to help maintain facilities and operate concession stands during ball games. Volunteers are a vital part of any program, and we have been richly blessed with good people wanting to serve as coaches, team moms, and workers.
