There has long been an interest in live theater in Clinton County. Through the sponsorship of the Breese Junior Women's Club, local high school and college students performed musicals at the park in 1982, 1989, and 1990. After these successes, it was evident that the area needed a community theater for students, as well as adults.

In 1991, Clinton County Showcase was formed for the sole purpose of promoting performing arts throughout Clinton County and the surrounding area. Recognizing the need for year-round theater, Clinton County Showcase initially staged winter, fall, and spring productions at local high schools and organization halls. In 1996, the young community theater purchased the historic Avon Theater in downtown Breese for its productions, while continuing to perform its large-scale productions on the Breese North Park stage.

Another Clinton County Showcase tradition is a focus on the youth of the community. To that end, Clinton County Showcase awards talent scholarships each August to deserving students who have shown dedication to the theater. Clinton County Showcase also presents a youth musical each July, with an entire cast of performers less than 17 years of age-Clinton County Showcase continues to grow through the time, talent, and efforts of countless numbers of people. New members are always welcomed and new participants are always encouraged.
