History :

CommunityWorshipCenter has continued to grow and move forward under God's direction and leadership since its birth in 1974 under the leadership of Brother Don Williams. At its inception there were seven members who were the beginning of our local church body.

In December 1976, our first building was dedicated and we began a rapid growth. In August 1982, an addition was built in order to accommodate that growth and to provide facilities and classrooms for our Christian school. Due to the large numbers in attendance, two services were required on Sunday mornings, and it became necessary to plan for a new building. Our services were moved to Lafitte's Landing's Ballroom in May 1985 until the new building was completed in October 1988. The current building serves us well and is able to handle the growth that we are preparing for as we grab onto the vision God has given to us to add to our numbers.

After Brother Don was called to pastor a church in Baton Rouge, the Lord sent Pastor Joseph Champion and his family to us and he served as Pastor before moving on to serve as pastor and evangelist in another area. Currently, He is pastoring the rapidly growing "CelebrationChurch" in Round Rock Texas.

In the year following his departure, Brother Glen and Sister Debbie Byer served as interim pastor. Finally, in an answer to prayer, the Lord sent to His body at CommunityWorshipCenter, Pastor Broxie Hardesty, his wife Marietta and their children. Under Pastor Broxie's leadership, our church continued to strive for souls, building disciples and leaders and seeking to be a blessing whenever and wherever possible.

The year 2006 brought to close yet another chapter in our church's history as we bid farewell to the Hardestys as they answered the call to pastor in Olive Branch Mississippi. To our awe and amazement, God "set us up" and orchestrated our newest chapter by having our beloved Brad and Michelle Collins, Jobi and Cherish installed as our new "shepherds." Pastor Brad brings with him a zeal and energy and has ignited the church with excitement as new souls are being added to the kingdom weekly. As word is spread throughout the community, new people, as well as some familiar faces are coming to be added to our numbers.

Currently, we have Bible graduates from our congregation serving as missionaries in foreign countries, and serving in home missions as well. And as exciting as this all seems, only God knows what the future holds for His people as we continue to seek His will for our lives and that of the church He has called Community Worship Center.
