The staff of David Prouty High School believes that education is the lifeblood of a fulfilled and productive individual. Among the most important goals, we advocate that students meet the challenge of being capable, confident, lifelong learners; that students learn to be effective thinkers, communicators, and contributors to society; that students become aware of their rights and responsibilities in a democratic community; and that students learn to respect and appreciate differences among people of diverse cultures and lifestyles. More than ever before, we are aware of many factors outside the school that impact our teaching, and our students' learning. Therefore, it is imperative that the community--parents, elected officials, business investors, and residents--support our efforts in tangible ways and whole-heartedly endorse the expectations we put forth in this statement of purpose. The listing of expectations under each category is not arranged in order of priority; each expectation is viewed as equally essential to our statement of purpose.
