Mission Statement

Educate To Prevent Harm

Education and prevention are the focal points of the Deerfield Fire Department.

We develop and provide programs and services that promote safety while actively educating the public. We maintain a public message display board along the roadway in front of our station with frequently changed safety messages. We provide a presence at community functions where we display equipment, pass out safety brochures and do basic medical screening. We encourage fire and life safety inspections and offer them to residents and business owners in out Township.

Protect

The safety of our personnel is the number one concern at all functions of our Department. We strive to be trained in a manner that allows us to deliver emergency services to those in need.

Be Kind and Helpful

We attempt to always conduct ourselves in a courteous and professional manner when interacting with our fellow members and dealing with the public.

About Us:

Deerfield Fire Department has its primary responsibility to the citizens of Deerfield Township in Portage County, Ohio. Deerfield is 25 square miles with a full time population of approximately 3,000 and a summer population of 6,000.

Deerfield Fire Department provides fire suppression, hazardous condition control, medical first responders, basic & advanced life support with ambulance transportation to area hospitals. Yearly Deerfield Fire responds to approximately 350 emergency incidents.

Our Fire Department was organized in 1947 as a volunteer fire department. The term volunteer refers to the fact that each member volunteers to come when called. Some volunteer fire departments pay their members a small hourly fee when responding to emergencies. Deerfield Township does not pay volunteers for their emergency service.
