The Vineland Board of Education voted Jan. 12, 2000 to approve contracts for construction of 10 classrooms and two small group instruction rooms at Winslow Elementary School. The new classrooms will help reduce class size, and provide more space for kindergarten programs. The projects will also pave the way for construction of two new elementary schools when the state legislature approves funding mandated by the Abbott Supreme Court decisions.

"We are very pleased with these bids," said Board of Education architect Larry Merighi, of Manders/Merighi Associates. "These bids were 15 percent below the state estimates and that means we are getting a lot of new space for the money."
"We have a good working relationship with local contractors, and they are eager to work with the school district," said Merighi, in explaining the favorable bids. Completion is expected by Aug. 4, allowing enough time for the new rooms to be ready for students by the opening of school in September.
