Driftwood Christian Church

5564 South State Road 135
812-358-4063

In 1815, a log meeting house known as the Driftwood Church was built on the southwest corner of the William Graham farm. The deed proclaimed it "Free and open to all the  different denominations of orderly Christians." Graham, a signer of the State Constitution and a U.S. Congressman, later served as a church trustee. The pioneer church struggled to survive its early years. Under the leadership of evangelist Jacob Wright, they reorganized in 1839 as a Christian Church. A new building was erected on the present property in 1845. It was replaced in 1907 by what is now used as education and fellowship space. The present sanctuary wing was built in 1997.

A church, however, is more than the sum of its history and buildings. It is the living body of Jesus Christ, here on earth to do His will. The Driftwood family understands this, and is actively involved in number of vital ministries for the kingdom of God, not only in Jackson County, Indiana, but around the world.
The goal pursued is the unity of all believers through obedience to Christ. Continued teaching, fellowship, worship,
and prayer strengthens the body (John 17:20-21, Acts 2:42-47).
