DuLarge Elementary School consists of modern facilities, a library, a large computer lab, and computers in each classroom.  The spacious cafeteria encompases a stage area for school functions.   DuLarge Elementary School maintains many special programs to meet the needs of the children it serves. These special programs include Title 1 Pre-school' Reading Recovery, Computer Lab, Project Read, Title IX Indian Program, Migrant Education, ESL (English as a Second Language), and the Special Education Inclusion Program.  Students are served with Individualized programs including SuccessMaker, Accelerated Reading, Accellerated Math, Starfall, Scantron, Gifted and Talented Education and much more.

The school receives community support from DuLarge Volunteer Fire Dept, Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Dept, Knights of Columbus, DuLarge Recreation Center, DuLarge Branch Library,  VFW Ladies Auxiliary and our bayou businesses who are very generous to the school.  We take great pride in our students, faculty, staff, and community partners.

The original school existed in the small community of Theriot, southeastern Louisiana, Terrebonne Parish.  The original building shown below was built in 1917. The first teachers lived at the school in the upstairs rooms, and the first students traveled to school by boat or on foot. The school was heated by two fireplaces at each end of the building and cooled by breezes through large windows. Since the original building, three other buildings have been added, a cafeteria, a Kindergarten building, and a 1st grade building. Many of the teachers there now attended DuLarge Elementary as students and completed their student teaching there.
