Based on this mission, the Bryan School strives each day to develop programs and activities which prepare our students to face the challenges of the 21st century.

Students at the Edward H. Bryan School receive a well-balanced education that meets the requirements of the New Jersey Department of Education. The classroom, basic skills, special education, and enrichment teachers, as well as other supplemental staff, work collaboratively to provide opportunities for all students to learn at their ability level and learning style. Teachers conscientiously adhere to core curriculum standards to ensure that all students achieve in the areas of language arts, science, mathematics, and social studies. World Language instruction in French or Spanish begins in Grade Two. The Schoolwide Enrichment Program provides opportunities for students to participate in higher level learning experiences.

In addition to the core curriculum, students receive instruction in art, music, physical education, and library skills on a weekly basis. In grades 4, 5, and 6, students have an opportunity to participate in band and chorus. Students can also take advantage of other programs to enhance their learning experience.

Students participate in a variety of academic competitions to demonstrate their knowledge such as: Language Arts Olympiad, Math Olympiad, Social Studies Olympiad, WordMasters analogies challenge, essay contests, art contests, and a national Geography Bee. Many students have received national recognition and individual awards in several of these competitions. Some of our students have had the distinction of being recognized at the Junior National Young Leaders Conference. The school also houses a school age child care program sponsored by the YMCA. Additionally, there is a co-operative pre-school program housed at Bryan School.

This year our students, teachers, and parents will be involved in a character education program to increase tolerance and rule out all forms of bullying. "Character Counts" provides our children with a strong framework for building social skills and getting along with others.
Staff members are encouraged to participate in staff development programs which are beneficial to students. They continuously receive instruction on innovative trends that will help students meet the challenges of the 21st century. Training on integrating technology into the curriculum continues to be a high priority at the Bryan School. Our younger students are benefiting from Balanced Literacy Instruction as a supplement to their reading program. On all levels, students work on teacher-created problem-based learning units. Our Literary Committee worked tirelessly to create our first two editions of the E. H. Bryan Literary Magazine so that all of our students could see their creative writing in print.

Staff, students, and parents will continue to work together to make Edward H. Bryan School a great place to learn and grow.
