About Us:

In the past several years, the Ella Lewis School has been the recipient of additional funding grants such as the Barbara Bush Maine Family Literacy Grant, the Technology Innovation Grant (2002-2005), and Annual Yearly Progress Grants for Professional Development (2002-2005). Students have benefited from these funds as additional skills and opportunities for learning were made available to students, staff, parents, and community members.

The EdGE Program, with support from the Maine Seacoast Mission, provides after school programming two days per week which focuses on homework completion, activities and involvement in the realm of Arts and Humanities, and Physical Activity. the program is available on Mondays and Wednesdays, 3:00-5:00 p.m., and is open to all students in grades five through 8. Students consistently describe this program as "Awesome". EdGE provides a well planned, well organized and well received that is positive for students and their families. The incredible resources and additional personnel enhance the school-day learning opportunities. There is no cost to students; funding for this program is made possible through private donations to the Maine Seacoast Mission.

Parent and community involvement is a huge factor in the increasing success of our school. Parents are the first teachers and with their help we are able to help students perform to the best of their abilities. Community members, including grandparents, are present to support students in such activities as the Science Fair, the Annual Art Show and Ice Cream Social, Sports events, the annual Spelling Bee, the Winter and Spring Concerts for classrooms, chorus and band, the Bike-a-thon (a fund raiser for the Henry D. Moore Parish House), Clean-up Day (as students work to beautify our Town), and Graduation as well as a variety of other activities. The learning community at-large honors the success of each student and joins in the traditions and celebrations of growth and learning. Our students work on becoming strong and well educated citizens in the safety of a small and caring community.
