Church History

Founded in Pullman as a mission of Trinity Baptist Church (Moscow, ID) in 1968, Emmanuel organized as a church in 1969 with about 50 charter members. We received critical financial help from the Home Mission Board (now North American Mission Board) of the Southern Baptist Convention in the launching of the church. We began as part of a project to plant new churches in 500 strategic cities and towns across the nation. We worshiped at the first building on Ritchie St., then at Pullman High School for six years, and since 1988 at the current property on Sunnymead Way.

To restore the relationship with mankind, God chose to send His Son Jesus who lived a sinless life on earth and voluntarily paid for our sin by dying on the cross as our substitute. Jesus was fully God and fully man in an eternally unique way. His death accomplishes salvation for all who receive grace by trusting in Him alone. God raised him again to life and he is the only mediator between us and God the Father. He will return to earth to consummate history.
