About Us:

Farm Share is above all a family operation. It was founded in 2006, and is owned and run by the Brussel family in Westchester, New York for the benefit of your family’s health and good taste. The farms with which we work are all small family farms. We operate on a principle of mutual respect, support and trust.

Our veggies and eggs come from Norwich Meadows Farm, whose farmer, Zaid Kurdieh, is a leader and innovator in sustainable agricultural practices.  Zaid has been known to stay up nights waiting outside the chicken coop to scare aware foxes and skunks that try to come and feast on organic eggs.  The crops are fed by a naturally running creek from the Southern Tier of the Adirondack Mountains in Upstate New York.

Norwich Meadows is a favorite source of ingredients at leading New York restaurants including Gramercy Tavern and Union Square Cafe, where dishes are named after the farm.

Most of the revenue from Farm Share goes directly to small local organic family farms. We all benefit from the farms’ success through great tasting healthy food, preservation of the environment and supporting local agriculture. Our delivery model has been proven to be among the most ecologically advantageous in an independent study. That means it is better for the environment to get Farm Share deliveries than to buy at a farmers market or health food store (not that those aren’t good too).

Excess vegetables are contributed to local food pantries for the hungry and homeless. Each year, thanks to the generosity of our participants, we've donated many bushels of fresh organic vegetables for the hungry here in Westchester County and Manhattan. In the weeks following Hurricane Sandy, over one hundred Farm Share members donated their boxes to help storm victims.
