First Baptist Church Of Morley

248 North Cass Street

We believe the Holy Scriptures to be the verbally inspired, authoritative Word of God contained in the Old and New Testaments as the very Word of God, wholly without error. Our church stands for the received Text of the Holy Scriptures, present in what is commonly referred to as the King James Authorized Version in the English language, and for sound translations of the Received Text in the various languages of the world.

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin, Mary, and is true God and true man.

We believe that man was created by direct action of God, created in the image of God; that he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death, but also that spiritual death which is separation from God; and that all human beings are born with a sinful nature, and, in the case of those who reach moral responsibility, are sinners in thought, in word, and in deed, and are lost without Christ.

We believe in the bodily resurrection of our Lord, His bodily ascension into Heaven, and His bodily presence there as our High Priest and Advocate.

We believe in the “blessed hope” the personal, bodily, pre-tribulation, pre-millennial, and imminent return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

We believe that all who receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit, and are therefore children of God and eternally saved.

We believe that Satan is literal and personal, the agent of the Fall, the prince and the power of this present world, and that he shall be judged and eternally punished.

We believe that immersion is the proper form of baptism revealed and commanded in the Scriptures; that it has no saving power, but is commanded for those who are already saved; that the new birth, which comes as a result of repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, is the Scriptural prerequisite for baptism; therefore, only those who are old enough to trust Jesus Christ for themselves should be baptized.

We believe that the Bible recognizes only two offices in the local church: pastor, and deacons. Furthermore, we maintain that those offices may be held by men only.

We believe that the local New Testament church is a body of believers, baptized, assembling for worship, service, and the dissemination of the Gospel to all the earth; and that the local church is fully autonomous and independent of any earthly authority or denomination concerning the conduct of its business and mandate.

We believe that all the saved are called to a life of separation from worldly and sinful practices.

We believe that all the saved are called to a life of spreading the Gospel through soul winning to the lost.
