Statement of Core Values

These are the values that have led us to join our lives together as First Baptist Church and to continue to fulfill the Great Commission:

Grace. "By grace [we] are saved through faith. . . it is the gift of God-not because of works, lest any man should boast" Ephesians 2:8-9). Only God gives us eternal and abundant life through Jesus Christ.

Worship. "Glorify the Lord with me: let us exalt his name together" (Psalm 34:3). We joyfully commit ourselves to praise and honor God.

Prayer. Through prayer, we seek the will of God (Luke 22:42), abide in Christ and have his Word abide in us (John 15:7).

Scripture. We believe the Bible "is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness" that we "may be completely equipped for every good work" (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

Missions. "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. . ." (Matthew 28:19). We each commit ourselves and our resources to reach a lost world.

Family. "[We] are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God's people and members of God's household" (Ephesians 2:19). We care for and support each other. In our diversity we draw strength; in Christ's love we find unity.

Education. We are called to build up "the Church, the body of Christ, to a position of strength and maturity until . . . all become full grown in the Lord" (Ephesians 4: 12-13).

Freedom. "Christ has set us free. . ." (Galatians 5:1). Through Christ, we are free from spiritual death (Romans 6:4) and have free access to God (1 Timothy 2:5).

Responsibility. Each of us has the responsibility to minister to others in Christ's name (Matthew 25:31-46). God has chosen us to be his "instruments to do his work and speak out for Him" (1 Peter 2:16).
