Just as Jesus Christ came to earth with a mission and knowing His purpose, we at First Church stress the importance of knowing who we are and what our purpose is all about.

First Church is an inter-denominational, evangelical church, having members from almost every side of the Christian faith. In February 1999, a new church constitution was adopted stating that "the purpose of First Reformed Church is to share the love of Jesus Christ so that all might become His devoted followers." Or to put it another way, we see our primary tasks as, first, seeking those who are not believers and sharing the Good News found in Jesus Christ, and second, to move those who are already believers from a casual acquaintance with Christ to a deeper commitment in Jesus as Lord and Savior.
