Friends of Historic Northport

Friends of Historic Northport is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving, promoting, educating, and the enjoyment of the heritage of Historic Northport Alabama.

Since the founding of Friends of Historic Northport in 1996, the organization has grown to over 1000 members across the country.

FHN produces a quarterly fact-filled historical newsletter, operates a Victorian-era Museum, a Historic Records Room at the Historic Clements House, and the Umbria Schoolhouse - the oldest standing schoolhouse in Alabama.

FHN is spearheading the effort to move the 1882 King Bowstring Bridge back to its home on the banks of the Black Warrior River.

Each year FHN, along with the City of Northport, has an Annual Heritage Homecoming Luncheon, participates in the Dickens Downtown festival the first Tuesday each December, and has an Annual Bake Sale.

If you are interested in becoming a member of FHN, you will receive our newsletter as well as mailings keeping you informed on the activities of the organization.
