Girl Scouts opens a world of opportunities for girls to make friends, learn new skills, discover the world and explore science, volunteer, go camping and more.  As the largest girl-serving organization, our focus is on leadership development for girls.

For the Girl Scout year 2012-2013, the membership fee for girls and adults is $12.00.  The registration fee includes supplemental accident insurance for girls and adults, and liability insurance for registered adults participating in Girl Scout activities.

Our Girl Scouts are from the entire Greater Washington Region metropolitan area, including Washington DC; in Virginia: the cities of Alexandria and Arlington, and Arlington, Clarke, Fairfax, Fauquier, Frederick, Loudoun, Page, Prince William, Shenandoah and Warren counties; in Maryland: Allegany, Calvert, Charles, Frederick, Montgomery, Prince George's, St. Mary's and Washington counties; and in West Virginia: Berkeley, Grant, Hampshire, Hardy, Jefferson, Mineral and Morgan counties.

The Girl Scout Council of the Nation's Capital Area has a combined girl and adult membership of over 90,000!

We are thrilled to reach this milestone with membership that consists of 64,900 girl members and 25,700 adult members.  We serve girls through wide ranging activities in 4,900 troops with the help of dedicated volunteers- women and men who give their time, talent and energy to Girl Scouting.
