Gray Fox Farm
Expect to receive 8-15 pounds of produce each week.
For example, in the spring, a share would include lettuce, cabbage, turnips, radishes, swiss chard, and spinach. In the summer, you'll find lettuce, tomatoes, summer squash, peppers, herbs, eggplant, sweet corn, potatoes, kale, and beans. And in the fall, you'll see cabbage, lettuce, brussels sprouts, cauliflower, onions, potatoes, winter squash, turnips, radishes, tomatoes, and peppers.
We've selected more than 40 varieties of produce!
Gray Fox Farm is a farm venture in Hudson, OH. For the 2011 season we'll be offering 19-week CSA shares to foodies in our area (check back for ordering info in September). The hubs (John) and I (Meredith) have been growing food for ourselves, and our friend (Alex) has been growing it for CSA farms in the Cuyahoga Valley. We thought it would be great to grow for ourselves AND for other people through the Community Supported Agriculture model.
It breaks down like this: We grow you 8-15 pounds of produce each week for 19 weeks in the summer and you pay us in full or in three installments. We'll give you whatever is in season and you come pick it up at our farm. There's some good stuff on the menu: lettuce, tomatoes, squash, potatoes, cucumbers...you get the idea. And we promise to do our best to grow everything as naturally as possible. Besides growing vegetables, we like animals. For Thanksgiving this year you can order a turkey from us or stop by to pick up some free range eggs. When we say free range, we mean it. These birds have never been fenced. There are plans to add loads of other animals, fruits, and value added products like jams and breads.
We'd love to hear your ideas on what you like to eat and how you like to eat it on our blog. If you let us know what you want for dinner, lunch, or your snack at the beach we'll do our best to grow it for you!
