About Us

The Northeastern Region currently consists of ten clubs with approximately 250 members. We are working hard to charter additional clubs. As stated on our home page, the Northeastern Region covers the states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.

The Greater Hartford, CT club, chartered on November 19, 1938,  holds the distinction of being the first club chartered in the Northeastern Region. We hope to have many more charter parties in the future.

The Northeastern Region is one of 28 regions of Soroptimist International of the Americas. Soroptimist International is the world's largest classified service organization for executive and professional women. 

Our Region Board of Directors consist of the Governor, Governor-Elect, Secretary, Treasurer, the Region Membership Chair, the Region Program Chair, the Region Fundraising Chair, the Region Public Awareness Chair, the immediate past Governor and a Parliamentarian.

Elections are held every two years. Roberts Rules of Order are observed in voting procedures at all region business meetings and conferences. Our Region Bylaws were updated on 4/29/17 at our Spring Conference. 

Board members as well as committee chairs and members bring their enthusiasm and talents together to help the region continue to prosper and grow.
