Mission

Our mission is to make Roslindale a greener, cleaner and more cohesive community by working together to promote and implement grassroots projects and activities.

Activities

We will carry out our mission through activities in the following area:

1. Green Spaces - increase the diversity and environmental quality; access to trees, orchards, gardens; greening of roofs; composting
2. Food - garden production, local farms, nutrition
3. Energy - building efficiency and alternative energy in homes, businesses and government offices
4. Water - conservation, water re-use/recycling, rain barrels
5. Waste Reduction - reduced consumption and increased reuse, composting, recycling, litter reduction
6. Transportation - accessible and efficient systems, walking, biking, sharing, public transit
7. Information, Education and Advocacy - individual and community awareness and action in schools, senior residences, businesses, associations, streets; measure energy use and recycling
8. Healthy Homes and Gardens - toxics reduction, healthy habits, sustainable gardening practices

Identity

We are a community that cares about the people who live here, the space we live in, the larger city of Boston, and the future we create day by day. Together we can plan our future by improving our living space and the way we live so people can play, work and learn together in an environment that is healthy for individuals, families and the community.

We seek to include everyone who lives, works and cares about Roslindale and to draw on its amazing diversity of talents and backgrounds for ideas, skills, commitment, and effort to make it a sustainable green community. We will seek to build momentum through innovation, partnering with others and welcoming new ideas and new participants.
