About Us:

Hillcrest Christian School began in 1976, under the direction, leadership, and ministry of the dedicated members of Hillcrest Christian Church, who, with a vision to serve the needs of the church and community, began the implementation of a quality academic program for grades K-3. On opening day, there were 22 students enrolled. Within a few years, the school had increased its enrollment significantly, encompassing grades K-6, with multiple classes in several of the elementary grades.

In 1983 a new school educational facility, including a gymnasium was built. This allowed HCS to add grades 7-9 and thus was born the Junior High School. This was later adjusted to grades 6-8 and the middle school philosophy was adopted. Several years later, in 1985, The Discovery Program was added allowing teachers to minister to the needs of learning disabled students. HCS if fully accredited by the National Institute for Learning Disabilities (NILD) for the Discovery Program. Accreditation of the entire educational program was first granted by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) in 1995.

Growth continued throughout the end of the 1980's and into the 1990's. With the same enthusiasm as its initial efforts, the school continued to expand its educational ministry to include programs for elementary, middle school and high school grades. Planning for more growth in 1996, the church relocated to larger facilities in Porter Ranch. This is important because Hillcrest Christian Church deeded the property at 17531 Rinaldi Street to the school. At this point HCS became an independent corporation. That same year, the decision was made to add grades 9-12. Four years later the first senior class graduated with 28 graduates. By 2007 that number grew to 53 graduates.
