Vision

Hill-Gustat Middle School students will be so thoroughly prepared that their journey through high school and beyond is completely successful. Our family of professionals intends to educate, model, and mentor in such a way as to maintain our high expectations. Hill-Gustat Middle School shall be a model for other middle schools and will be the preferred educational destination of students and their parents.

Mission

Our mission is for our students to be: prepared, motivated, socially adjusted, respectful, confident, and eager to be successful at HGMS and at the high school level.

Beliefs

-All students can learn.
-Student learning is the chief priority of our school.
-Students, parents, teachers, staff, administrators, and community members share in the responsibility of providing a supportive learning environment within our school.
-Clear goals and high expectations for student achievement should guide the development of the curriculum, design of instructional strategies, and learning activities.
-Students learn in different ways and should be provided with a variety of instructional approaches to support their learning.
-Assessments of student learning should provide students with a variety of opportunities to demonstrate their achievement as well as provide authentic contexts in which to apply their learning.
-Each student is a valued individual with unique intellectual, physical, social, and emotional needs.
-In order for students to receive the full benefit of the curriculum being taught, students and their parents must make school attendance a priority. It is the parents’/guardians’ responsibility to see that their children attend school every day possible. We are committed to making maximum use of instructional time.
-The commitment to continuous school improvement is imperative to enable our students to become confident, self-directed, and lifelong learners.
