For more than 20 years, HVVPP volunteers have been helping people in need to heal, learn, and enjoy life. The carefully trained, registered, and fully insured teams visit hospitals, and senior care facilities throughout Rockland, Westchester and Orange Counties. In most cases, our volunteers and their pets participate in Animal Assisted Activites, which means the pets are there to cheer up people by providing physical and emotional contact with a calm, friendly animal who enjoys the interaction. In addition HVVPP in affiliation with Reading Education Assistance Therapy R.E.A.D., visits schools and libraries with the intention of improving children's literacy skills. The program offers youngsters an opportunity to improve their reading in a setting that is both nurturing and non-judgemental.
