Mission:

Through all its programs, Ingrid B. Lacy provides a safe, nurturing, and positive atmosphere for children to become young adults.

History:

Ingrid B. Lacy Middle School opened on August 22nd, 2002. With 32 teachers and 700 students, Ingrid B. Lacy Middle School (IBL) focuses on the needs of sixth through eighth graders, supporting and encouraging them in the transition from childhood to young adulthood. A rich and challenging curriculum is taught by credentialed specialist teachers in each subject area and further enriched through partnerships with the San Mateo County Public Library System, the Boys and Girls Club along with specialized programs such as the Applied Technology Laboratory, performing and visual arts, and study trips.

The educational structure of IBL is designed to provide for the unique needs of early adolescents. Sixth graders have their own wing of the school where each classroom of students stays together throughout the day. These students have one main teacher for language arts, social studies, and science and go as a class to math and P.E. specialists.
