Learning is the top priority at Haines School. Our professional staff members take great pride in promoting an educational climate designed to meet the needs of each individual student. We will do everything to help your son or daughter achieve their fullest potential. In addition, our program seeks to provide a wide range of academic, technological and support services to challenge students' creativity, critical thinking and judgment skills, as well as an appreciation of the many aspects to their own cultural heritage and that of others. The mechanisms for an enlightening and personally-rewarding school year are in place. We would hope that parents would continue to encourage and support their children at home and take an active role in the educational process. The success of our school can only be measured by the achievement, attitude and participation of each of our students. The Haines School houses grades four and five. State Core Curriculum Standards are addressed along with providing the maximum in technological opportunities. Each class is equipped with four computers, in addition to our Library/Media Center, which offers access to the Internet.

The Haines Library is equipped with books and materials that will assist our students to further enhance the learning that takes place in the classroom. Each student visits the library a minimum of once a week. The students learn to use library skills and the technology needed to unlock information and resources in a variety of areas.

In addition, Haines School offers many student-related programs such as an exemplary Pupil Assistance Committee (P.A.C.), which has provided in-service and guidance to the other schools in Pemberton Township in setting up their own P.A.C. teams and an extensive community service program where twice a month one class has the opportunity to visit, assist and learn with Pemberton's finest citizens, the residents of Buttonwood Hospital. The Haines Pupil Assistance Committee (P.A.C.) is comprised of teachers, guidance counselor, the Child Study Team psychologist and the principal. Our team receives referrals from parents and teachers who would like intervention to use with students in need of academic, social or emotional support. Once each month the P.A.C. team meets with parents of the identified students to share our concerns and brainstorm some techniques which may improve the classroom situation. The P.A.C. team at Haines is one of the oldest in the district and has proven to be a very effective tool and an asset to the school.

The administration and staff of Haines School symbolizes exemplary quality in support, knowledge, initiative and in hard work. Current research and constant adaptation, reinforced with extensive staff development provide opportunities for teachers and students to learn and grow together. Administration, staff and parents work in concert for the same result: happy, productive, capable students and citizens
