History:

The Isanti County Historical Society was established on November 16, 1964 in Braham, Minnesota by an original committee of eight persons. ICHS became an official organization of Isanti County and an affiliate of the Minnesota Historical Society on April 20, 1965. Celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2005, the Isanti county Historical Society is a non-profit organization with 500+ members dedicated to the preservation of the county's history. Today, ICHS is located in the Isanti County Historical Society Heritage Center specifically designed to house its collections and historical records and to serve as a meeting place for anyone interested in the historiy of our county and state. ICHS has a growing collection of books, documents, photographs, oral history tapes, maps and donated artifacts. Of special emphasis is material regarding Swedish immigration to Isanti County -- still the "most" Swedish area in Minnesota in 2005.

Mission Statement:

To promote Isanti County history by funding research, programming, outreach, education and displays.

To discover and collect any material which may help to establish or illustrate the history of Isanti County or the State
To provide for the preservation of such material and for its accessibility.
To disseminate historical information to interested persons, groups and institutions.
