Isle La Motte Elementary School

534 School Street
802-928-3231

The Isle La Motte School is nestled on a small island, 5 miles long and 2 miles wide in the northern part of Lake Champlain. The first record of Isle La Motte schools appears in 1793 on page 6, Book I, of the Town Proceedings: "voted to build school 16 feet square." This later became the South District schoolhouse, later known as the South End school, and now the Historical Society building.

Today Isle La Motte has a new, modern school building which houses an average enrollment of 35 students in grades K - 6. We have three multi-age classrooms, a large multi-purpose room (gym/cafeteria), a library, work-study office, kitchen, nurses' office, and a large outside playground. After 6th grade, the students graduate from Isle La Motte. They complete their junior and high school years off the island at local surrounding schools.
