Kiwanis club of East Meadow

2490 Hempstead Turnpike

Community service is our primary goal.  At the Kiwanis Club of East Meadow, we strive to fulfill the Kiwanis vision of changing the world, one child and one community at a time.  Through the participation of our members, we help to educate our children, support our community, and establish ourselves as the premier service organization in East Meadow. Here on our web site, you can find out about how we are working to accomplish this mission and why. Over the years, we have completed numerous community service projects. We send 33 children each year to a week of sleep away camp at Kamp Kiwanis, sponsor an annual Senior Thanksgiving Dinner serving over 500 seniors, distribute over 125 holiday food baskets three times per year to needy families, and provide $6,000 in scholarships to students in our community each year with a total to date of over $120,000. This is but a short list of our many accomplishments. We welcome you to come visit us at our weekly meetings every Tuesday night at 7:15pm at either the Empress diner in East Meadow (2490 Hempstead Turnpike, East Meadow, NY 11554) or at Borrelli's Restaurant the last Tuesday of the month (1580 Hempstead Turnpike, East Meadow, NY 11554).

Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time.

Kiwanis Name

The name “Kiwanis” means “we trade” or “we share our talents.” It was coined from an American Indian expression, Nunc Kee-wanis.

Kiwanians are volunteers changing the world through service to children and communities. Kiwanis members help shelter the homeless, feed the hungry, mentor the disadvantaged, and care for the sick. They develop youth as leaders, build playgrounds, raise funds for pediatric research, and much more. No problem is too big or too small. Why? Because working together, members achieve what one person cannot accomplish alone. When you give a child a chance to learn, experience, dream, and succeed, great things happen!
