Knightsof Columbus Council 2731

Brief History:

Council 2731 of the Knights of Columbus was established in Delta on May 11, 1930. The Council was inactivated for an unknown period then was re-instituted on February 22, 1981 replacing the Holy Name Society that had been the organization of men supporting St. Michael's Catholic Church during the period of inactivation of the original KofC Council..

The original 1930 charter membership was 42 and included men from the Cedaredge area as well as in Delta.. When the Council was re-instituted the list of members was 31 and again included men from both Delta and Cedaredge area. The most recent membership reported was 117 and includes only men residing in the boundaries of St. Michael' Parish in Delta.

In the early years, finding a meeting place was often difficult and became more so as the membership grew. In 198?, The Knights financially supported the building of an addition to St. Michael's Parish Hall to be used as their meeting room.

The primary mission of Council 2731 is the support of the less fortunate members of the City of Delta, in particular those who are members of St. Michaels Parish.
