The City of La Verne is a small community located on the eastern border of Los Angeles County. The population is about 32,000 and encompasses approximately 10 square miles. The City Fire Department currently staffs two fire stations with 36 full time people and about 20 apprentices.

Station One, on the south side of the city, houses two fire engines, one paramedic ambulance and one 95-foot aerial truck. Station Two is located on the north side of the city and houses two fire engines and one paramedic unit. Our normal response to a structure fire is a BC, Truck 61, Engine 62 Medic 61 and Medic 62. Our response to freeway accidents is a paramedic unit from one station and a paramedic engine from the other station. Our normal response to a medical call is one paramedic engine and a paramedic ambulance. We need an engine company to also respond on medical calls to help the paramedics lift patients, etc.

We cover 6 miles of east-bound freeway traffic through La Verne and into part of Pomona. LA Co FD covers freeway accidents going west-bound in the same area.

We also have mutual aid agreements with LA Co FD and USFS.

The Fire Department responds to approximately 2,500 calls per year. About 70 percent of these calls are for medical aids and rescues (traffic collisions).
