Mission Statement :

Our mission is to enable all students to achieve their individual potential in academic excellence and in social responsibility.

About Us:

Lakota's original school building (with classes held in 1884 - 1885) burned on January 10, 1899.  School was then held in the Methodist church until the next building was erected and later enlarged in 1910.  Unfortunately, fire also destroyed this building on February 14, 1932.  Classes were held in City Hall, the Lutheran and Federated Churches, the bank building and the courtroom until a new, fireproof building was dedicated on February 14, 1933.  This building is still in use today.  An addition was built in 1980 - 1981 to house the music program, industrial arts, and the Vocational Agriculture program.  In 1995, the city built the Community Center.  It is in this new gym that basketball and volleyball games are held.

Class size varies, but is generally in the mid-twenties.  Our school size is considered small, but we still are able to offer 60 courses to the high school students and 22 for seventh and eighth grade students.
