About Us:

The Lame Deer School District was founded in 1909 and is located within the exterior boundaries of the Northern Cheyenne Reservation. There are nine buildings which house the various schools, administration, and support departments. Five of these buildings are used for classrooms and student activities. The remaining four are used for transportation, maintenance, shipping and receiving, administration, technology support, and the parenting center.

As of October 1, 2004, approximately five-hundred K-12 students are enrolled at Lame Deer Schools. Teaching and supporting these students are sixty certified teachers, thirty-four support staff providing janitorial, transportation, secretarial, counseling, and teacher aide services, and six administrators at the various schools and departments. Both the elementary and junior high schools are located in Lame Deer. The high school is located two miles south of Lame Deer off Highway 39.

Employee housing is also available on the main campus in Lame Deer, and at the former Burns Trailer Court three miles east of Lame Deer. The transportation, shipping and receiving, administration, and support services buildings are on the main campus in Lame Deer.

Providing our students with quality education is our main goal at Lame Deer Public Schools. We encourage students to get involved with school by participating in the many different activities. We offer a great selection of clubs and athletics for our students, which include football, basketball, volleyball, track, cross country, wrestling, and cheerleading. Other activities, clubs and organizations are Student Council, Honor Society, Indian Club, Pep Club, Pep Band, Letterman club, VICA, BPA, FCLLA, Gear Up, Talent Search, and JMG. School activities for the parents include, Booster Club, P.T.O., and Mocha Moms & Pops.
