Lighthouse Baptist Church

6905 Nan Gray Davis Road
251-653-6542

In 2000 the Lighthouse Baptist Church was started with a handful of people and a vision to reach Mobile County for Christ.

This newly formed church was being led by a young Randy Tewell who had just moved his family across the country to embark on this journey. They left a comfortable ministry position in California, packed their belongings and headed south. Pastor Tewell had no previous experience as a senior pastor, but had a passion to be used of God to build something great. At that time no salary was able to be provided and there was only a small outdated building but that did not stop the vision that Pastor had. During the first few months in the Theodore area Pastor Tewell worked a full-time job down at the Theodore docks. Many of his days were spent waking up at 4 am to head to work, getting off work and going door knocking to spread the vision of what he thought God wanted to do.

On the grand opening service there were 89 people in attendance. Within the 1st year the church was averaging over 120 people and able to bring Pastor Tewell on full time. Over the next couple of years the small church building was remodeled, expanded, and remodeled again to acommodate the growth. Souls were coming to Christ and families were being added to the church on a weekly basis. This led to the construction of the beautiful 22,000 sqr ft 800 seat auditorium, gymnasium, office, and Sunday School building.

LBC had the grand opening of this beautiful new building in April of 2006. It was thought that the new building would house all of our needs for many many years to come. We were wrong! The Lord has continued to bless through the growth of the ministries here. We have since remodeled the original building yet again and recently finished a 43,000 sqr ft Education/Administration campus near the church property. This new building houses our Christian school, beautiful offices, new gymnasium, and a 250 seat auditorium for our growing spanish ministry.
