Littlebrook Elementary School

39 Magnolia Lane
609-806-4250

The central mission of Littlebrook School is to provide a learning environment that stimulates all aspects of the intellect and responds to the diverse needs of the entire school community. We believe that the best learning takes place in a setting that is secure, physically and emotionally. This learning takes place within a coherent, child-centered curriculum and with respect for a variety of teaching and learning styles. We are connected by our desire for our students to grow as learners and responsible members of our community. Our environment is a harmonious one in which there is mutual respect, caring, and support among students, staff, and parents.

Littlebrook School is home to 370 students attending grades kindergarten through fifth and to 59 dedicated staff members. Parents are an important part of school life as they contribute considerable interest, time, and effort to enrich the students' education and to support the staff as it works to meet the needs of all students. As a community of learners, Littlebrook School seeks to provide a nurturing environment as every member engages in active learning that helps each person make meaning of the world. As a caring and connected community, Littlebrook supports individual achievements of all of its members.

Littlebrook is also home to Ravioli, a 6-foot giraffe who stands in the school's foyer as a mascot for our commitment to caring, sharing, and connectedness --- and "sticking our necks out" for the betterment of others and ourselves. The Golden Rule and our student-written Peace Pledge are central to the mission of Littlebrook School.

Littlebrook's curriculum is challenging, integrated for meaning, and is connected to students' lives. Reading and writing is done for real purposes and mathematical reasoning and solutions often solve real problems. Whenever possible, students present their work for a real audience where it can be appreciated and assessed authentically. The district curriculum is aligned with the NJ Core Content Curriculum and national standards of specific disciplines. Student interest and individual goals also help define and enrich the curriculum, along with partnerships and residencies with area businesses and institutions.
