The core academic curriculum at Lloyd Road School consists of four major subject areas: reading/language arts, mathematics, social studies and science. Health and drug/alcohol education are also taught at every grade level. This program is complemented by instruction in fine arts, music, physical education, academic computers and library research studies. Whenever appropriate, instruction is offered using a thematic approach which links learning in many subject areas. Every classroom features computers with Internet capability.
The school provides as needed a program for English Language Learners, speech/language services, FOCUS (an intervention program in reading and mathematics) and a variety of special education programs and services.

Extracurricular student activities include: student council, academic bowl team and the performing arts club.

The Lloyd Road Parent Teacher Organization and parent volunteers enrich student life in very important ways. Parents volunteer to present famous artists to students, help students to bind their own books, conduct toy drives and holiday programs and help raise significant funds to finance field trips and assembly programs. The Aberdeen Police Department, the Matawan-Aberdeen Public Library and St. John Vianney and Matawan Regional High Schools also conduct important school programs.

In partnership with the Camp Arrowhead YMCA, the school provides both before school and after school child care programs. In addition, Girl Scout and Boy Scout troops and recreation groups meet in the school building on a regular basis.

Lloyd Road Elementary School is located in the southwestern section of the Matawan-Aberdeen Regional School District. The school currently has an enrollment of approximately 600 students. It hosts the district wide educational program for students in the fourth and fifth grades.
