About LMCC
Lookout Mountain Community Church is God’s creation. It’s the glory of God born in a stable. We are the stable, and we house that glory—the grace of God in Jesus. When we’re honest about the stable we can be honest about the glory. Christ’s Church is created at His cross. There He died in our place and gave us His life. We love Him in return through Romance, Communion, Renewal, and Sacrifice.

History of LMCC
On May 1, 1983, approximately sixty families gathered at the Lookout Mountain Nature Center. More than sharing a church service, they wanted to share their lives with each other and with God. They named themselves Mountain Christian Fellowship (MCF). Like many young congregations, MCF faced an assortment of hardships, but through God’s strength the people persevered. In 1990 they moved into their first permanent home—a beautiful chapel-style building with large windows that accentuated the beauty of the surrounding mountains. The building was located on Lookout Mountain Road. In 1992 Rev. Peter Hiett agreed to serve as MCF’s Senior Pastor. Within a year the church doubled in size. In the process of their rapid growth, they changed their name to Lookout Mountain Community Church (LMCC) and began their affiliation with the Evangelical Presbyterian Church.

Within six years, the church building was bursting at the seams. Four worship services every weekend at full capacity prompted the people to take a bold step of faith and build a facility that would house a church “where the world drives by.” Three years later, the congregation moved into their present location overlooking I-70 and the city of Denver—right where the world drives by. We are motivated by the desire to share the banquet of God’s love on the mountain, in the city, and around the world.

Lookout Mountain Community Church is not the perfect church. But we seek to be a real church in the unreal world…a community of people who are honest with God and honest with each other.
